I am Geography IT Analyst, I look after the software that gets put on machines within the company to ensure that all of it is licensed and authorised. I take care of ensuring that people are up to date with licenses they have on their PC and I authorise new machines and hardware. I also take part in the Digital marketing side of things. This means that I have to make sure that all the agencies who make our websites are happy with the work they are completing and that they are aware of changes that the brands want to make. I am helping in lots of different projects but my main one is SAM (software asset management) where the aim is to reduce as much unauthorised software as possible.
Yes, I receive a foundation degree in computing and IT and level 4 qualification in professional competence for IT and Telecoms professionals.
I really enjoy my programme, everyone in my team are fun and kind. They have welcomed me well and helped me with anything I need. I enjoyed my assessment day as it allowed me to learn lots about myself and what I am good at.
I feel very valued, I have fixed many problems for people and therefore feel as though I am valued and recognised. People come to me with their problems as they know I should be able to help them.
Very. The assessment day was well organised and ever since day 1 I feel as though everyone knows what they are doing and therefore I have picked things up relatively quick.
I receive a lot of support I meet up with Peter Benson once a month who checks if I have any problems and to ensure I am happy at work. I also meet up with Mark Palmer to ensure that the work I am completing is correct and I am on target.
I have monthly meetings with my line manager to discuss projects I am completing and whether or not I should take on new and different tasks. My line manager wants me to learn as much as possible and therefore she is pushing forward for this to happen.
I receive just over £1000 after tax and it just about covers everything. I live 36 miles away from my place of work in leatherhead and therefore a lot of my money goes on fuel to get to and from work. I have to pay my parents housekeeping but other than that the money is my own and I feel that it covers everything but I wont be able to afford to move out and get my own place any time soon.
Yes lots. I have done a day of volunteering where I helped in one of the English heritage grounds. I did a lot of gardening in order to ensure that it was clean. I spent a day at Twickenham stadium where the whole office went to learn about our targets for 2016. We receive a free gym at work and therefore I don't have to pay for my one at home.
Yes
I feel that they are very welcome and for the jump from school to work it was a very pleasant company to move to. I have enjoyed my apprenticeship so far and would definitely recommend it.
Be yourself, relax and try to enjoy it. Think of something a bit abstract for your assessment day and just be confident in yourself. It's not as scary as you think!
