I work in global purchasing which involves communicating with suppliers on a regular basis, getting involved with new car launches and routine responsibilities such as collecting the post each morning to distribute to the team. I also deal with various computer systems which are needed to maintain records and databases.
I am currently in the first year of my apprenticeship where I am studying for my NVQ Level 3 which is all work based assessments. Alongside this, I attend college one day a week to complete my Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration. I have improved on skills i already had such as communication, team working, listening and ornganisation skills.
I enjoy every part of my apprenticeship programme from the work i do to the people i work with. I didnt know what to expect before I started but I am really enjoying every part of it so far. I enjoy the company of my colleagues amd the amount of new friends i have been able to make during my time so far.
I feel extrememly valued by Vauxhall. My manager shows me huge appreciation and encourages me to do my best at all times. I am able to get stuck into projects and tasks which allows me to give a good contribution to vauxhall as a company.
I would say the whole programme is very well structured and organised. The induction that i had to undertake was about 2 days long which give me a good insight into the company and what i was expected to do. I feel extrememly supported in everything that i do and feel part of a team where everybody is equal.
i receive a great amount of support from my training provider as they provide guidance whenever necessary. I feel confident to talk to my tutor, NVQ assessor and all the other people i deal with within the training provider organisation. They are always helpful and ready to provide support if ever I need it.
I receive a huge amount of my employer too. I feel confident talking to any member of my department team and members of HR. It is access to gain access to support if i need it and everyone is always approachable and willing to help if you ask.
I am still currently a student living at home with parents so i dont have any University fees to pay out for. My salary meets my costs very well.
Yes. There are always opportunities to do things outside of work. This can be with work friends/colleagues as well which improves working relationships. I used to play netball and football but gave this up a while ago. I am hopefully looking to get back into some sporting activity or exercise routine.
Yes
Vauxhall are a great company to work for as they provide so many opportunities and benefits to so many people. especially with the apprenticeship scheme, so many young people are offered a great chance to gain experience of various different departments and expand on their skills and knowledge in many areas.
For the application process. make sure you fill in forms with correct spelling and neat handwriting to show you take pride in the things you do. Recap on your basic maths and english for the assessments and ensure you prepare yourself for the interviews so you feel completely confident you can say you did the best you could. Sell yourself and dont be embarrassed to talk about all the good points about you. Also, rather than panic and get all worked up about the interview process, keep calm and relax so you can think properly on the day and show vauxhall what you can do and the things you can achieve.
