Throughout the first year of my apprenticeship I have acquired the basic skills needed to be an effective store assistant such as training on the tills and undertaking shop floor tasks,ie: working mixed pallets and chiller pallets. As I am seeking to get into management, my Line Manager has provided me an insight on their everyday tasks, for example, I was given a demonstration on how an MDT works and it's significance to ensuring that there is a high standard of availability.
This apprenticeship has enabled me to enhance my communication significantly as my everyday tasks involve me working in a team ,consequently, this has been very beneficial to me as I have an aim of advancing into management. In addition, this apprenticeship has provided me with an element of resilience as I have worked unorthodoxed hours and had to deal with difficult customers; similarly this has been beneficial to me as this a crucial skill needed for management.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship programme as I have met many new friends and acquired an assortment of new skills. Furthermore, I have enjoyed the challenge of Aldi's fast pace environment as it has improved my concentration and commitment; again this is a quality needed for management.
Aldi make me feel very valued as they ensure I'm progressing suffieciently, for example, I recieve monthly performance reviews ;this clearly conveys my strengths and weaknesses. Also, the Aldi Benefit Scheme ensures I feel valued because Aldi are taking an intrest in my life outside work, consequently, this scheme encouraged me to join my local gym and improve overall fitness. Moreover, when I complete a task succesfully, I am made aware of it through praise, therefore, this ensures that I feel valued and gives me a sense of achievement.
My apprenticeship is organised and structured coherently as I know what is expected out of me, for example, I am made aware that the first year of my apprenticeship requires me to reach the level of a competent store assistant. Furthermore, the organisation of the prgramme enables me to comprhemd that there is a theoretical side to the apprenticeship, for example, tests and work booklets to that need completion.
I recieve a substantial support from my trainer as they constantly keep up to date with my progress and ensure that I am performing to a consistent level. Also, my trainer also listens to any concerns or personal issues I have.
Similarly, there is a large element of support from my employer. My employer ensures that I am meeting time targets on the shop floor and gaining zero till difdenrces. However, any personal issues I have, I can raise with my employer, who may be able to take some course of action to resolve the perdicament.
My salary is very reasonable in comparison to many other apprenticeship salaries. My salary enables me to go out and enjoy time with my friends and asnures that my fuel bills are met.
My apprenticeship has created opportunities for me outside work as it has it has enabled me to gain core skills that helps in other aspects of life, for example, the fast pace environment at Aldi has meant that my movement amd reactions have improved, consequently, this has improved my tennis game.
