My role included shadow in solicitors and helping them on real-life tasks that they had to complete. In order to do this I had to do some research into what they were doing and produce reports and power points that they could use.
I developed my independent learning skills as well as learning how to interact with a new group of people/a new business style that I had no come across before.
I hugely enjoyed the programme as it allowed me to gain an invaluable insight into how a top tier law firm is run and well as make new contacts and learn skills that I would not have had the chance to otherwise.
I feel that the company really values taking on work experience students and is interested in hearing what we enjoyed and how they could improve the course for the next cohort.
The programme was very well organised. I, and everyone else, knew where I was meant to be at all times and what I was supposed to be doing. I was also sent a schedule weeks in advance.
All of my mentors were very patient and also very helpful. They always had time to answer any questions and went out of their way to sit down with me and go through the work I had produced to give feedback.
Any questions and queries I had throughout the week were answered promptly and I feel that nothingn was too much to ask.
The work experience programme was unpaid, but I Believe that Pinsent Masons would pay paid students well and fairly.
During my week, I had the opportunity to play in a staff netball game against another law firm which I thoroughly enjoyed. There are also many other opportunities that I heard about but did not get chance to get involved in.
Yes
The firm instantly became a place that I felt comfortable and would like to come back to at some point in the future.
Do your research into the firm first - there's no point spending a week somewhere where you know you won't enjoy. Be open and willing to do anything you are asked to do with maximum effort in order to create a good impression.
