As an Apprentice Assembly Technician, my role is to build up a variety of mechanical and electrical components into final products this involves working to high tolerances and ensuring that everything is done to a high standard. Working with other departments such as engineering, test and design I a one part of an important chain I reaching high goals.
Whilst completing my apprenticeship I have been given the opportunity to do my HNC Level 4, course at college on a day release scheme. This has allowed me to further my education whilst still work. I have also been put on a number of company training programs in order to understand how all aspects of the business work. All of these have enabled me to gain new skills and knowledge.
This program has enabled me to work closely with others in a fast paced environment. I am highly enjoying experience. I feel that the work program allows me to push in order to achieve goals.
I feel that my position at Mercedes AMG HPP is one where I am able to be part of the team without standing out. I am able to carry out the job role of employees who have been working at the company for years
The 3 year program I am on is well structured setting out clear goals of what needs to be achieved. I am able to self-manage in order to adjust my targets or deadlines in order to revolve around the day to day job. The programme includes various units in which I must complete which are presented by SEMTA apprentice service.
Support is available form the training provider where required, this support is second to none when required.
The employer treats this apprenticeship as a job so support is only put in place if they feel like you are struggling or not being able to keep up with the work load. If this support is needed an action plan is implemented immediately.
Living away from home on an apprentice wage can be hard however this is part of learning life skills. The salary amount allows me to cover my living and travel costs.
Opportunities arrange by the workplace I feel are minimal, however employee biased organised activities are in abundance, these such as running, cycling and karting to name just a few.
Yes
I feel that this apprentice program is the best that can be offered working with cutting edge technology and within a close, highly motivated team could not get any better. The work environment is exceptional and benefits package is too.
When applying for this program, I would recommend that you are knowledgeable in the area of engineering and have I passion for racing. I would also say you need to be prepared to go the extra mile in order to stand out from the crowd.
