In my current role, I am dealing with suppliers, stakeholders and internal senior people on a daily basis. I currently manage 13 suppliers within the procurement department. Daily jobs could be reviewing the order book, placing orders, liaising with other departments to manage suppliers etc. For an apprentice, I would say I have a lot of responsibility considering I have only been in this business for less than 2 years.
I have gained various qualifications whilst being here. This happened both through college as well as internally. As well as gaining qualifications, I have also picked up a lot of skills such as time keeping, organisation, communication etc.
I really enjoy this programme that I am on. The way that our placements are set out is really impressive as well as all the support we receive whilst being on the scheme. The programme has really met my expectations and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
I actually feel very valued by my organisation. My manager always appreciates all the work that I do and is always there to support me if required. I have received an above and beyond award for work I have done internally.
I would say that it is pretty well structured in terms of training and induction. However, the qualification side could be improved as there have been times where completion towards NVQQ has been rushed due to short notice. Support and meetings with my assessor have been frequent which is a good thing. I would say that overall, the programme has been very well organised.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. My tutor is always there to answer any question and guide me when needed. 12 weekly reviews are held to review my progress as well as frequent NVQ reviews. These both ensure that I am always given support in all aspects of my apprenticeship.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. My manager is always encouraging me to develop more and supporting me with work. The HR team are also there to support with any queries when required. I would say that the company is always generally supporting us and providing guidance with any problems.
I would say that the salary I receive meets my costs well as I don't have any living expenses to pay for.
There are loads of opportunities available to us outside of work. there are many company events that we can partake in as well as taking part in community projects. You can volunteer for these or even get chosen by your assessor. Examples of these would be German Exchange, Princes Trust, Air shows etc. A lot of these events give us the opportunity to tell external people about the programme that we are4 on to raise awareness.
Yes
I would say that BAE Systems is a brilliant apprenticeship and very supportive in all aspects from learning to work. The opportunities that are made available to us whilst we are on the scheme are brilliant.
I would say that during the application process, do not lie about anything as you will get caught out. In the interview, be yourself, confident and come prepared. If you have any questions, you should ask as many as possible.
