Engineering Technician Apprentice involving design Piping Systems on board the Type 26 Global Combat Ship.
HND in Engineering Systems and working towards my SVQ Level 3 in Technical Engineer Support
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as it involves consistently having to improve my interpersonal skills through working in small and large teams. I feel my communication and confidence has grown the most because of this.
As an apprentice at BAE Systems I feel valued as every team lead and manager I have worked under treats you no different from a full time employee. The only exception is I am given time during the week to complete apprentice tasks such as my Log Book.
The programme is relatively well organised. Sometimes the wait for training could be shorter, however support and studying support is excellent. Task delegation is always good and I know my responsibilities in work.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. I have almost daily discussions with my training officer as well as 12 weekly reviews. Both my training officer and placement manager are approachable and I know I can speak to either with any problems or issues I have.
