As a second/third year apprentice my job role is carrying on from my first year as an apprentice with additional responsibilities such as date checking, holding the keys for the safe, and responding to cashier bells for assistance.
I've learnt a lot more knowledge about the running of the company and it's procedures, including the many job roles of a deputy manager. I feel my confidence has improved exponentially since I started my apprenticeship, as well as my communication skills and critical thinking.
I enjoy being delegated more responsibility and given new tasks.
The apprenticeship has taught me a lot about retail and I feel like a member of the team with my fellow colleagues in the store that I am based in.
The programme involved is a monthly visit from an outside party who monitor my progress and set new tasks for my working programme so I am continually learning more and more about management within retail.
My support provider is very helpful and he is always ready to provide assistance when needed.
Members of management encourage my development in store to progress to the next level in retail, so I'm continually learning new skills take with me into the workplace.
Of course I do not speak for all apprentices but personally my package meet's my own living costs suitably, also I understand that the money deducted goes into my training within my apprenticeship.
Apart from occasional visits to the Head Office branch in Swindon that have ranged from introduction to Head Office, the warehouse, and First Aid, there aren't any opportunities that I myself have been involved in, although if they were made more available to me I may be interested, otherwise no.
Yes
It's a continually growing company with new stores all around the country, a lot of opportunity for those seeking employment.
If you're not willing to work over and above, you will not get on well in the company.
