I am an auditor, and this involves performing test of controls and substantive procedures in order to test numbers in the financial statements. We obtain evidence from the client in order to help us with testing material amounts such as selecting samples of purchase invoices to test trade payables.
I have learnt how to communicate effectively and establish good professional relationships. We have web based learning where we are trained to the firm's standards such as their risk procedures, money laundering procedures, ensuring that I am not a threat to their independence and so forth. I am also underway of attaining my ACA qualification.
The teams you work with really make a difference to how you enjoy your experience at EY. A lot of people are friendly and are great to work with, however it might be hard to fit in to a particular team which makes it quite difficult.
My managers show their appreciation through recognition awards with an equivalence of £50.
Our exams are spread out across the 5 years, giving us an opportunity to learn on the job as well as the programme being heavily theory based. The HR department support you well when you fail your exams, and automatically submit you for a resit which you pay for later.
Kaplan are excellent with providing resources before college and after college. The material is also available to access online for ease of access.
I feel comfortable to speak to directors and senior managers in my firm. The HR department are very accessible as well, however my main points of contact such as my councillor and seniors (executives) on my teams are harder to reach out to.
Very well
There are a number of student recruitment events which I support with the firm which gives me an opportunity to network and meet potential school leavers.
Yes
