My role was a sales associate who takes on managerial responsibilities, the monthly rota, saes figures, stock take while working on the shop floor.
Since working in Harrods I have gained so much confidence that its hard to recognise myself two years ago. you take on responsibility which helps you become very democratic in your working environment as you come across many challenging experiences.
I really enjoy the programme. The best part was changing departments every six months as you experience every part of the business which really helps you with your confidence within the store but also networking around the business.
Being on the programme really gets your name out there and you feel you are really playing your part in the business. I feel Harrods really takes pride in looking after their employees.
Our programme was very structured with a training schedule as well a monthly goals which we would then go through with our manager and our learning and development leader.
You receive an amazing amount of support, they are behind your every move and want to know as much as they can to get you where you want to me/ achieve your goal.
Being on the programme gives you so many opportunities and gets you involved in projects around the store. As for managers they are very much involved in your work and really try and push you to achieve your personal best.
Depending on the department/commission each month. However, for our age I feel we receive a good salary. If you have moved out from home which I now have I can see it is a struggle but you need to find a way to balance your life, and this also pushes you to sell.
During my programme I got involved in some charity work - which wasn't part of the programme I just happened to see it advertised in the Harrods magazine - then started doing cake sales, nail salons etc and then ran 5 K for the NSPCC. So there are many opportunities outside of the work place.
Yes
I feel very happy in the company, and feel very valued especially as a school leaver. You feel really supported within the team and the programme and I don't know why anyone would not want to work in Harrods.
You need to be very confident and set yourself goals - you need to know what your strengths are and use them to your advantage, this will help you succeeding within the business.
