On a day to day basis I am employed as a sales associate on the shop floor. However, by being a part of this programme I receive additional training sessions as well as extra exposure and opportunities to meet various people throughout the whole of the Harrods business
I have learnt such a wide variety of extra skills as well as develop existing ones. The training provides us with skills on being successful selling and interacting within a luxury retail environment. By having exposure to more areas of the business and the opportunity to undertake additional projects my confidence and inter-personal communication skills have significantly developed.
Occasionally routinely being on the shop floor can be a little boring and mundane, however by having the option to undertake more projects, meet with various people and have training my days are much more interesting and purposeful.
I feel that Harrods is a great employer to work for. We always have support should we want it and there are countless opportunities to move and develop around the business.
We do receive a timetable of our trainings, however they are often very sparodic and intermittent and can often be cancelled/rearranged due to the hectic schedules of some of the individuals who are leading our trainings.
If we ever require support or guidance, I know that I can contact my training provider.
Should we ever want any additional opportunities to develop, there are countless ones at our disposal
Living in London is always expensive and having to move away from home at 18 years old for the programme and start to live in London was difficult. I feel that we are paid very well for the programme that we are on, however London life is always expensive especially for the wage I am on coinciding with living without parents.
There are not as many opportunities outside of work as I would have liked due to the nature of working shifts on an irregular schedule.
Yes
Great employer who provides plenty of opportunities to develop and progress within a very supportive environment. Additionally the experience that you get by being employed by Harrods is second to none.
Ensure that it is certainly something that you want to do as it is hard work and a demanding job role alongside the expectations of the programme. However if it is something that you want, I couldn't think of a better place to receive this training and experience of a retail business.
