  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Assistant Project engineer - I work with a team that project manage the investment and construction of off site facilities from concept through to completion. I liaise daily with internal customers in senior positions as well as external consultants and subject matter experts. Everyday is different

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As well as working toward my NVQ I have been studying Aeronautical engineering at HNC Level. Internally I am looking at completing my project manager developing you modules as well as trying to secure funding for a degree. Personally, my communication skills and self confidence has grown in this role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my job. I enjoy working with the team I'm on, in the environment I am in and for the company I work for.

  • I don't feel like an apprentice I feel like a permanent member of the company

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There were issues with the structure however after some discussions these issues have been addressed

  • I get help whenever I require it from my training assessor

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My team are 100% supportive of me. they realise that as an apprentice I will have other things I need to do. whenever I have an issue they are willing to support me.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I am paid well. a huge percentage of my wage goes on travelling to and from work but that's purely because I choose to live in Manchester rather than move closer to work

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, I volunteer regularly for extra-curricular events organised through work. When I am not working I go to the gym and box.

  • Yes

  • I really enjoy working here and think there is good chances of progression

  • Read up on the company, show initiative and keep calm.
