I am a Junior Software Developer, working mostly with Java and backend technologies to produce bespoke software for Capgemini clients. On a day-to-day basis I perform various changes to software systems that I am assigned to.
Yes I have learnt multiple new skills on an intensive training course I completed upon starting my Apprenticeship. I have also been given the opportunity to hone my existing skills independently whilst 'on the bench' which is the time I am not assigned to a project.
I am extremely enjoying the programme, especially the flexibility I am given to develop myself. I am rewarded for working hard and get to be the type of developer I choose to be.
I feel extremely valued and I can tell the work I do on projects will make a difference. I am rewarded for hard work, and am pushed to advance in the organisation.
My programme isn't extremely structured however this is a good thing. During the starting weeks there is a lot of structure to get employees settled and comfortable with the organisation but after that, there is a lot of flexibility to help you perform a role catered to your strengths.
I receive an enormous amount of support from Capgemini, I am always in contact with my line manager and the apprentice manager. They provide me with the tools to advance in my career and help every step of the way.

At the start of the Apprenticeship the salary is a little low, however after the initial training period, the salary is raised to meet a good amount for the role that I am performing, with regular reviews to discuss promotions and pay rises.
There are a lot of opportunities to go out and help in various communities. There are also many opportunities to attend workshops and meet ups to build your professional network.
Yes
I believe it is a really great place to work, and the flexibility and support provided by the organisation is the perfect addition to starting your career.
Prove that you can work independently, and that you won't need a constant support layer to keep you on top of things. If you find yourself with no work to do, go out and find a free training course, build up your portfolio of skills in your own time. Just generally be proactive, and you won't struggle to fit in.
