When I joined I was a Test Analyst, this involved writing and executing scripts. I had interaction with a lot of the other testers in the building and the other apprentices on my intake. I had responsibility to report my findings to the Project Manager in the form of an excel spreadsheet
With the Apprenticeship we did attended a local college 1 day a week. Here we learnt SQL, Java, and HTML, these were all new to me and have helped me a lot in the office. I have also gained the ISTQB Foundation Testing qualification and the Agile Testing qualification
I enjoy working as part of a team. Everyone was really helpful when I started and would always find time to answer my questions. I felt as though no-one looked 'down' on me even though I was an apprentice and that helped my confidence a lot
I feel valued by Capgemini, my reviewer is constantly asking if I am happy in my job role and everyone Is happy to offer job rotation which I feel is good as it will mean I can train in lots of different things.
Every Thursday we went to a college for some extra learning, in Java, JQL and HTML. A representative would come into work every few months and have a chat with us. We had a folder that we had to keep up to date with what we were doing and how we were feeling
I receive a lot of support from my traingin provider. They are always telling me about new courses I can take to further my knowledge of testing. They advise to go on as many course as possible to expand my knowledge.
I receive a lot of support from the people in Capgemini, the review system is really good as I have a good relationship with my reviewer. He is constantly asking me if am ok in my role.
My salary is fine for what I have to pay for. It has allowed me to rent my own house and I can save money as well, it has allowed me to go on holidays and treat myself to things
Yes. Every year there is a big Christmas party. It is a good way to meet people and its a free bar. Alcohol aside, this shows that Capgmeini as a whole appreciate the work we all do. Teams often hold team nights out and have meals together
Yes
I feel as though Capgemini is a good place to work, the job security is nice and the money is not bad either. They are very open to all types of people no matter what skill level.
Definitely do research before going, they will ask you questions about the history of the company and for a quick Google search will definitely help. Be yourself, be honest and have fun
