  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Whilst working within Willis I have learnt various new skills, such as the use of internal systems and obviously my knowledge regarding Insurance as a whole. This job has also enabled me to develop existing skills such as communication and time management. As part of our 5-year programme we have to obtain the ACII qualification, therefore it is up to us to manage our time and prioritisation with regards to work as well as private revision. There has been a variety of Intenal Training courses such as MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint training which we have been able to take part in as well as External Training courses provided by the CII by way of revision days which have been very helpful.

  • I am really enjoying being part of the school leaver programme and working within my team, everyone has been really welcoming and helpful which really made me feel at ease in the beginning. Everyone is really supportive and if I ever need help there is also somebody available. The fact that there are 15 of us on the School Leaver Programme based across London and Ipswich is areally good as we are all in the same position coming straight out of education and it is nice to have other people to relate to.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • On a whole, I feel that the programme is well structured as we had a 4 day induction which involved presentations from lots of different business units from all over Willis. This was good as it enabled us to understand Willis as a organisation better and to gain an insight into Insurance. The School Leaver Programme have also been given the task of fundraising for a local charity over the next 12 months, this is really good as it encourages us to work as a group and to also organise events.

  • 9b. Why?
  • Willis is a great company to work for a provides so many opportunies. The School Leaver Programme is really good as it provides us with so many opportunies such as being able to obtain the ACII qualification whilst earning.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • Make sure that you really sell yourself on your CV as this is the first thing that Willis will see when you apply. Make sure that you understand what Willis do before your interview, lots of people think that Willis is an insurance company i.e. household, motor, travel etc) and do not understand what a Broker is. If there is something you would like to know further about then ask this in your interview as this really shows your interest! Work experience also looks good on your CV as it shows that you have had the initiative to organise this!
