My official Job Title is an IT apprentice. Worked with field engineers working on project based and BAU it issues within the business. Now working in IT PMO trying to gain experience as an IT business analyst. I have weekly one to ones with my mentor and monthly one to ones with my line manager
I have gained 3 MTA certifications through the programme as well as nearly finishing a level 3 city and guilds apprenticeship. I have attended inter personal skills training which is very valuable to me as i was quite quiet and shy coming into the business. My presentation skills have also improved in my time here. My technical knowledge on IT and IT systems have been developed to a much higher level I was at previously.
I have enjoyed this programme very much. I find everyone in the team very helpful alongside with management. I love working for the company and i find the company culture second to none! The apprenticeship has really exceeded my expectations!
I feel very valued by the company. Firstly due to the positive feedback i recieve from management which really motivates me to work harder. I also feel valued as i have gone through the apprenticeship i have been given tasks and people have felt that i have the competency to deal with them.
Thanks to our Line manager I have had a very structured experience, especilly due to the fact that we are the first IT apprentices within Balfour Beatty
My tutor/assesor is very easy to contact and provides as much support as i would ever need. The training sessions have been a very valuable experience and i have learnt a lot of theory that i have been able to apply to my day to day role.
The support recieved by my employer is second to none! Management and even Senior Management have been very helpful and always make sure the programme is being run in the way the way that is most positive to myself.
My salary meets my costs fairly well.
I have had the chance to travel to many different Balfour Beatty sites in order to gain an insight into what the company does on a whole. I have had the pleasure of working from 3 different Balfour Beatty offices since i have joined
Yes
The amount of experience and support i have recieved here has been second to none!Mangement really take an intrest in your personal development and take it into account when deciding what type of work they involve you in.
The main thing i have found that is valued by Balfour Beatty is enthusiasm! During the recruitment process show enthusiasm and a genuine intrest in the company and it will be recognised!
