I attended a 2 day skills academy at EY for students in their last year of school. We worked in groups to complete a variety of tasks and gave a presentation at the end using the knowledge and skills we had learned over the course of the 2 days.
I developed more self confidence during the skills academy and learned a lot about the company and jobs there. It was a very useful experience to gain and a good introduction to the company.
The programme was great for meeting a lot of new people who are like minded and are of a similar age. It was a great opportunity for networking and all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
EY were very accommodating and all their staff were very friendly. The company paid for my travel, accommodation and meals over the two day course and made me feel extremely welcome.
The skills academy was well structured and managed to fit a lot of things into a short period of time. It would have perhaps been improved if it lasted one more day though and a more work experience like day would be provided to give more insight into day to day work life of staff.
All staff were extremely friendly and approachable. Each participant in the skills academy was also given individual feedback about their strengths and weaknesses on presenting which was very useful.
There was always several staff members on hand who were all very supportive. Each group was also allocated a member of staff who acted a s a mentor over the course of the two days and who was very helpful.
Accommodation and meals were all provided for me which were of a good standard. My travel expenses were also paid for completely for my train fare from Glasgow to London and the cost of the underground.
Even though it was only a two day course there were many opportunities provided to network with other staff members such as at an organised BBQ and during lunch. There was also time to socialise with other participants on the course after the work day.
Yes
I found attending the EY skills academy two day course to be a very useful experience since it was highly informative and helped develop my skill set. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating.
I would advise others who were applying to EY to do their research and know their facts for interview processes and to be well prepared. I would also advise them to be honest and be themselves.
