I took part in the Skills Academy, which allowed me to gain a valuable insight into what it is like to work for a professional services company and the various service lines, as well as make use of an opportunity to engage in some networking.
I did not learn any new skills. However, I was able to develop many essential skills such as teamworking, leadership, analytical skills and the ability to deliver a presentation.
I enjoyed the programme a lot, and I enjoyed the evening social in particular due to the networking opportunities that were avaliable.
Everyone at the Skills Academy was treated with the highest level of respect and kindness, and consequently, we all felt highly valued by EY
The programme was very well organised - I was given a clear itinerary of what to expect both in advance of the skills academy and at the start of both days of the programme, and the structure was consistent on both days as well.
We were given mentors for each of our tasks, who we could seek help from at any point during both days of the skills academy. I felt that this was enough support for me personally.

There was some delay in having expenses returned to us - however, this was not the fault of the company, and they still kept us updated at all times. I had all of my travel expenses returned to me.
Due to the short duration of the Skills Academy programme, there was little time to spend to ourselves in between the two days, but it was not needed either.
Yes
I would recommend EY to anyone looking into working in accountancy or a professional services company, because it is clear from the moment you walk into the offices that everyone is valued, and allowed to grow and develop as people whilst working for the firm.
The interviews can seem scary, but the interviewers are friendly and will actively work to make sure that you feel at ease during the entire process - after all, they just want to get to know you! So don't be scared, just make sure you do your research, and be yourself.
