Associate, EY I help out on the verification of Asset Managers to ensure that they are GIPS compliant. I work with a number of clients at all levels. I interact directly with my manager, and on occasions; the senior manager and partner. I am responsible for ensuring that all work is completed in a reasonable amount of time, and also to ensure clients answer queires.
I am currently training for the ICAEW CFAB qualification, and then onto the full ACA. There are also a number of internal training courses associated with regulatory updates.
The atmosphere within the office is friendly, with support always at hand. However, we are understaffed on quite a few occasions. This has meant that individuals carry out more work than they should have to.
Yes, my manager recognises the work I do on a regular occurrence.
Programme is well structured in terms of delegation of tasks. However, I do feel that 5 years is too long and this could be reduced to 3.5-4 years.
We have college for a week before each exam.
Managers are always asking if we feel supported. However, the recruitment team could update us more with the process of college, exams and resits as it doesn't feel like they know that we are new to the whole process.
Not very well. My train fair is £6000 a year, meaning most of my wage goes towards this. However, the salary is competitive for those living inside London.
I haven't taken part.
Yes
Yes, as long as they live close to the office. However, I do not feel that the cost of travel is ok. However, the work environment is friendly.
For the school leaver programme - ensure that you understand that you have to work solidly for 5 years, putting in maximum effort without many breaks compared to if you went to university. In terms of the application process, be yourself, don't be nervous.
