I worked in the fixed income department and I helped a fund manager with assessing the risks in an investment by using the credit ratings and by looking at their financial position.
I developed my presentation skills and my personable skills with other people. Moreover, I gained a sense of independence as I had to travel to work on public transport that I wouldn't normally use.
I enjoyed the programme immensely. My favourite part of the programme was actually meeting the CEO of M&G which gave me an insight of how someone of that stature is and how they work on a day to day basis
I was respected a lot by the employees here at M&G. They all treated me well and I felt like a normal employee working. Everyone spoke to me and asked I needed anything.
The structure was pretty well organised and it allowed to me to have a fantastic experience. However, I feel that the should be more informed as to where the placement is and what they will be doing.
I received a lot of help and training from my training provider. She helped me when I wasn't sure what to do or where to go. Moreover, she taught me a lot of things related to the business.
My employer told me about the fundamentals of finance and how it works. It allowed to actually get an understanding of finance. Furthermore, I learnt key financial terms that are essential for working in the finance sector.
I wasn't given a salary as it was work experience. However, my travel costs was reimbursed by M&G and I was given a lunch voucher to have my lunch, so I didn't bear any costs.
There were a lot of opportunities outside of work. There were lots of chances to become an apprentice if you chose to do that and there are lot of chances to network with other people.
Yes
The atmosphere at M&G is exceptional. Everyone is extremely friendly and they are always ready to help you should you require any. They ask you if you need any refreshments and meet and greets are of abundance.
Just be yourself and always be outgoing with the people here. If you do this everyone will gradually like you and this could help you do well. Everyone has a sense of humour so don't be afraid to say a few jokes but obviously not in places like meetings.
