My job title is a tax associate, I am generally involved in basic tax compliance (submitting tax returns, dealing with correspondence with HMRC etc). I interact with many members of the firm in order to complete daily tasks.
I have learnt many skills. I have passed my Ethics exam and have done well in my Personal Income tax mock exams. This has allowed my current exam technique to improve whilst learning on the job.
I'd say somewhere in the middle. I definitely have my good and bad days but overall I do enjoy my job and the things that I have learnt. I find the work I do very interesting.
Again, somewhere in the middle. I know that my team appreciate the work I do but I am not always involved in projects and interesting work.
Not very. I feel like my intake have been "guinea pigs" as the layout of the programme changes on a regular basis, usually not communicated to us.
My training provider has given me his email so I know that I can contact him whenever I encounter problems. I have not yet had to do this but I do not doubt that he will be very helpful.
My people manager is very supportive and is always there to answer any queries I have, as is the rest of my team as they have sat the same exams that I am doing.
Not well. I do not think my salary is enough to live on if I were to accommodate myself. I am lucky that I still live with my parents who do not charge me a lot of rent.
A few, but not many. They all relate to meeting future school leavers and are often dotted around the country in random schools, many of which are too far for me to get to if I did want to attend.
Yes
Good place to work and decent money, provides opportunity to get a good qualification whilst gaining technical experience in the workplace.
Know that you want a job. If you are unsure, have a think because it is a very big commitment. Especially as exam revision will take up a lot of your free time.
