  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work for Mondelez International in the RD&Q Bournville sight, I am part of the Pilot plant team. I help out other work colleagues with hand moulding chocolate samples for many different projects, I also working on chocolate making where I make 200kg batches of chocolate like they would in the factory

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • over just one year of my two year apprenticeship I have learned so many new skills whether it practical or knowledge. I have learnt how to make chocolate from the start and improved my chocolate making skills, I have also learnt so much about chocolate, Mondelez as a business and improved my confidence greatly

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme I am on has opened my eyes widely, to work for such a big company so early into my working career can only help me improve my skills. to be hands on with chocolate everyday and to always be doing practical and meaningful work is a bonus

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Mondelez?
  • within the Pilot plant team I feel greatly valued after learning all my skills from other colleagues in my team I know the knowledge I am giving I am giving out is correct and that my opinion is valued as much as theirs

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • within Mondelez the organisation of my programme is spot on, but sometimes on the college work side it can sometimes feel rushed/unprepared and feel like decisions are made last minute. so I wouldn't say its very well organised at times

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • my training provider is always there 9 times out 10 to support me, he comes in weekly and discusses college work and how we are finding things at work. We can always contact him whether it through email or phone call.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get lots of support from Mondelez, I get the same support as any body whether they have been here ten months or ten years everyone is treated equally. All employees are great at helping me out if I am struggling with anything.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • the salary I receive as an apprentice is really good and helps me cover all my costs of leaving also at the start of my second year on the programme I get a pay rise which will also help

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • i have had a couple of opportunities to go out of work and give different demonstrations one including the Houses of Parliament. But i would like to go out on factory trials as this is a big part of the company that i am missing out on and would help me further my knowledge.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • 100% its a massive company with lots of different jobs and opportunities to offer. if it doesn't give you a platform to build your career within the business then it gives you a massive stepping stone to build else where. it helps to build your confidence and improve your knowledge greatly. its defiantly not a company to turn down.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mondelez?
  • make sure you make the most of the opportunity you have been given its one of the best working experiences i have had/having. you can never stop learning so always ask people questions and pick their brains for even more knowledge because you can never have enough.
