My role as a work experience student is to assist the trainees in whatever way I can; this can involve tasks such as legal research, preparing PowerPoint presentations or writing abstracts.
I have developed my research skills, as well as vastly improving my commercial awareness and learning about useful everyday phenomenon such as leasehold interests, mortgages and pensions.
I have enjoyed the week very much, particularly because the tasks I have been given directly relate to the field I am interested in. They have also been interesting and valuable to developing my knowledge of the workplace.
I feel that my supervisors have all been extremely welcoming and friendly, and they have made me feel that the tasks that they have given me have been useful for them.
Very well structured; I appreciated the fact that we were given a timetable of our week, and I thought that the presentations organised for us by trainees were very engaging and useful.
I have received lots of support- they have made me feel like I can ask them questions at whatever time if I am stuck or confused about anything.
I have received a lot of support, particularly in that the guidance they have given me has been detailed and thorough, and they have answered all of my questions extremely well.
I have not received a salary nor any compensation for travel costs; I feel that especially for those coming every day from outside London, this should be considered for future work experience students for the sake of inclusivity as lunch every day on top of travel expenses can become very expensive.
There seem to be in Pinsent Masons, but of course being a work experience student for only five days means that I would not be able to partake.
Yes
It has been the best work experience programme that I have partaken in, simply because of the effort they have put in to make sure we are able to do interesting and challenging tasks.
I would tell them to apply early and consider their answers to the questions on the application form very carefully because it is worth the effort.
