I was assigned to work in a practice group under a new trainee every day. The tasks I was given were very varied ranging from research for future cases to reading dudilligence reports.
My communication skills have been developed from the week due to the friendly open plan office environment. Also my ability to proof read has been tested due to the large legal documents I was tasked to check.
It was an enjoyable and insightful week that I would recommend to anyone even only considering law as a possible career path. I have gained so much knowledge of how a commercial law firm works that I would have never known had I not been on the programme.
There was a surprising level of trust at Pinsents that I was not expecting but I feel more interesting/important work could have been prepared that I could do.
The structuring was not the best. Many trainees were not fully in the know of what was happening so all tasks were impromptu however the tasks mainly were still rewarding.
My trainee was always available if I had any questions and was extremely friendly. This epitomised the Pinsents environment of approachability.
I was provided with a welcome pack in addition to an induction meeting with all the other work experience students which was extremely helpful.
It was an unpaid experience other than lunch which was provided on the first day. In fairness, it was a worthwhile experience that I'm glad I undertook.
It was a weeks work experience however the other people on the program were allowed to go anywhere at lunch or do whatever they wanted.
Yes
It gave a real insight into life working in a commercial law firm which is exactly what I set out to do.
Research Pinsents 'core values' and write your application playing off them. It's a worthwhile experience that you should apply to.
