We spent the week shadowing employees of PwC throughout the week in their different areas; for example I spent Tuesday in Audit, Wednesday in Tax, and Thursday in Consulting. We then finished the week off with a small competition where we worked on a task in groups.
I've developed many new Networking skills and how to ensure that my applications to jobs and work placements are as successful as possible. In addition I learnt a lot about how PwC operates and how to function in a team for their clients.
It was a really engaged and thorough programme as everyone there was incredibly friendly and welcoming! The programme really helped me develop and build on my skills - it definitely exceeded my expectations.
This was definitely something which really surprised me - they treat you as if you were a full-time employee; you're respected, trusted and also very very welcomed!
The programme is well structured, meeting at London for the induction was a nice idea, as we got to meet all the other people from different regions and offices who were there to engage in the work experience at PwC. The support we were given was great, the buddies who were assigned to us were not much older than us, which I definitely found was a nice touch as we were able to see ourselves in their shoes in the upcoming years. Overall it was a well organised and enjoyable week of experience.
The different buddies were all incredibly friendly and helpful - I was able to ask many questions about areas of the company/work I didn't understand. Their guidance was incredible and they made the whole experience even greater.
The PwC School Recruitment team was always in touch and was fast to solve any issues that both myself and any of the others encountered. They made the whole experience seem very personalised due to their high interactivity with all of the people on the work experience.
I didn't even realise that we were going to be paid for this! But the pay was definitely sufficient for the work that we did, and incredibly generous for PwC to provide. Furthermore, their travel expenses policy is possibly the best I've seen! They paid for any long journeys we needed to take, including my return train to London!!
Although I didn't take part in any of these due to our short time at PwC, the employees were all telling me about their great experiences and their large involvement in Voluntary work, including having time off to go do Voluntary work all across the globe!
Yes
PwC is such an incredible company when it comes around to employment; even as someone who was just doing work experience for a week, I felt welcome and everyone there was friendly and helpful - I honestly would struggle to find a negative about my week at the Offices.
Make sure that you prepare for the psychometric tests which occur in the application process, as these are a key part to getting a place on the Business Insight Week. It's a very competitive course, in our year 1000 applied and 88 got a place - so make sure you try your hardest for the application. Before the Telephone interview, ensure you have researched the company well and know what they are looking for and what the Business Insight Week is about. Good Luck! :)
