On the first day we had an Induction in London where we learnt about PwC and had an introduction to the School Leaver roles. The rest of the week was spent at our base office where I spent time shadowing. I was fortunate in that I was able to rotate around the three core areas of PwC's work and so had a good insight into the day to day works of each department.
Over the week I definitely feel that I developed existing skills and would now be more confident in a business environment. My IT skills have improved, I'm now confident in using Excel. Not only that but I feel more confident in myself, having developed this by communicating with all levels of staff at PwC and having done a presentation on the final day.
I really enjoyed the programme overall. I wanted to find out more about the School Leaver roles and I have definitely achieved this. A good thing about the Business Insight Week was having the opportunity to chat to senior members of staff who were more than happy to answer any questions especially about career progression whilst on the School Leavers programme.
I felt very valued by PwC. All of the staff were very friendly and more than happy to answer any questions. Also whilst shadowing in a different department my buddy for the day would always take the time to explain what they were doing.
The programme was very well organised. The first day induction in London was particularly well structured. It was also good to have a final 'live client project' to take part in on Friday, this was something to look forward to at the end of the week and was a nice way to end the week.
Our main training provider was Kate, the Student Recruitment Officer for the South. Kate was only an email away and always answered quickly and answered any questions thoroughly . On the last day, she took the time to provide us with lots of advice on the options PwC had for us in the future. Since completing the programme, she has been in contact again following up on our plans for the future and further answering any questions which is great.
PwC were fantastic throughout the week. I always felt that there was someone I could ask if I had any questions from the Student Recruitment Team to my buddy and even a senior manager.
The money was an added bonus to a great week. The travel costs to our Induction in London were fully refunded as expenses.
Although I wasn't there long enough to experience any of the out-of work opportunities, I was there long enough to find out that there was many on offer. PwC employees were always talking about the many out-of work opportunities.
Yes
PwC is an excellent company that really values everyone who works for it and its clients. Business Insight Week was an amazing opportunity to see exactly what they do. They also provide lots of information to you on the options available after leaving school - like School/College Leaver Programmes, Graduate Programmes etc.
Take time to fill out the initial responses online as they also help to find out more about PwC in the process! Also with the online tests try and get as many questions as possible correct rather than rushing through in the time limit.
