The first day is spent with every one at one office (from all over the UK), and is spent getting to know everyone and giving you advice for the rest of the week. The rest of the week as an Intern, I spent shadowing at my local PwC office, and it really gives you an insight into day-to-day work that you would do at PwC. To get the most out of the 3 days you spend at your local office, ask as many questions as possible. My most valuable time there was the 10 minutes I spent speaking to a director. I spent the week in indirect tax, although it is always worth asking if you want to spend time in a variety of areas. I also spent time on a client call, having direct contact with the clients that the team was working on.
I completed a competency training course whilst i was there. I also developed my skills on excel, as well as communication with a variety of different people.
The team I was working with were all very helpful and the cu;lture was very different to what I expected, as it was a very friendly and fun atmosphere relative to the very corporate environment I was expecting.
I was given real client work to do, in preperation for tax returns that needed to be done.
The programme is very structured, youre aware of what you are doing each and very day, with a variety of activities going on.
