I wwas work shadowing in the PwC Birmingham office at a client site in the Audit and Assurance team. My role involved completing part of the audit and learning the key aspects of auditing and assurance. We were based at a client site so I got hands on experience of interacting with different clients.
Yes- I have definitely developed my organisation and communication skills and I have learnt the importance of excel and computer skills.
I really enjoyed my programme and I learnt lots of new things about both auditing and assurance and the role I would hopefully be applying for in the future.
I felt as if I was a key member of the team and I felt very valued as I was given much coaching and many tasks to complete.
We started with an induction in the London office which introduced us to PwC and I felt that this was very well organised giving us an opportunity to ask lots of questions. My buddy contacted me in advance and I spent three days work shadowing in Birmingham. The final day is a client project and I feel as if this ties in everything we have learnt about accounting.
I recieved lots of support from my training provider and felt like I could ask them anything if I got stuck or needed any help.
We got a lot of emails and guidance from the employer which was very helpful.
I live in Wolverhampton so its a long journey from Wolverhampton to both London and Bristol. But PwC reimburses my costs as well as providing me with an hourly rate.
Yes- there are opportunities to volunteer outside of work which really appeals to me.
Yes
Although I worked in a business environment, everyone was very friendly and welcoming meaning it was quite easy for me to get along with everyone.
I would recommend making the most out of your placement- ask lots of questions!!
