A work experience programme providing an insight into what a trainee solicitor does day-to-day, this programme presents commercial law in the real world and how the company interacts with clients. I was able to draft documents, work through key documents and look at key terms.
I was able to develop new skills, particularly in areas of law I had never had the opportunity to enjoy before. The trainees helped greatly with this.
I felt a valued part of each team I worked with and completed structured work, with feedback, on a daily basis from nine until five.
Yes very valued, I was regarded as a real member of the team and made to feel welcome by all. This helped me enjoy the week much more easily.
It was well organised and resources provided were of high quality. The programme ran perfectly to time and expectations were met throughout the week.
Plenty of support was available from the supervisor, the organisers via email and facebook, and all employees who would look out for you in the building.
Received a good level of support, particularly in the way of feedback on completed work. Supervisors were always keen to improve my work which was good for me to see.
The work experience was not a salary paid week and thus all costs incurred were by myself on train fares and lunch but this didn't present a problem.
Yes, although as this was a work experience programme we did not have chance to experience any of these. We were made aware of the opportunities for trainees.
Yes
I had a fantastic week with the team and it helped me understand commercial law much more than I ever had been able to before, it has given me real understanding of routes in too.
Pay attention to detail, lawyers don't like little mistakes that could easily be avoided. Make sure you get involved in all the opportunities you are presented with.
