I was set with a supervisor from a different department everyday in the firm. This meant that I was obtaining a great insight into a variety of aspects in the world of the law. I was asked to do multiple tasks ranging from research on the effects of Brexit on the construction industry, to analysing the wording of contracts
I have gained a greater insight into the world of law. I think the most significant thing I learnt was the effect that the changing of certain wording could have on the meaning of a contract- e.g. the changing of the word "allow" to "knowingly permit" can put the position of an employer in a much worse or better place
I thoroughly enjoyed this programme. All the solicitors and trainee solicitors were incredibly welcoming and treated all of the students with the utmost respect. I really enjoyed working with the rest of the work experience students as well, who were all lovely people.
Like I said before, I feel that Pinsent Masons had welcomed all the work experience students in a way that I was not expecting. All solicitors respected the students and their work and got us to get involved in a variety of difficult tasks that they were working on.
The programme is structured fantastically, however, only really for the morning. The morning and the first day was well organised, as we received presentations on induction, training and health and safety all in the time that it was set out to happen. We all worked with our supervisors at the times specified, however, the work actually done with the supervisors was largely thought of in the moment and wasn't particularly planned- Despite this, I don't think this was a bad thing
I received fantastic support. All training supervisors were extremely helpful in providing me information as to what the world of law entails, and how I should go about my work when applying to do law at university and when applying for a job

The firm offers a variety of clubs and societies to be involved in. There is the opportunity to be involved in many sporting activities that occur before and after working hours. However, only working at the firm for a week meant that I did not get involved in these activities.
Yes
I feel it provides an extremely useful way of understanding how the world of law operates, and is especially beneficial for knowing what part of law interests you most, so that you know what you would like to do with regards to law in the future
Always ask lots of questions to the solicitors and supervisors, even if you feel that they may be silly. Questions are always really important, and enhance your experience a lot. For the application process, make sure that you involve yourselves in a lot of societies and clubs in and out of school so that you have an interesting application.
