I have been writing indexes and chronologies for bundles relating to cases that the Corporate Crime Unit is working on. I have also helped prepare a script for the Unit's bi-weekly podcast on topical news stories relating to corporate crime.
I had previously never done indexing or written chronologies, so learning about something which I have been informed is a regular task carried out at City firm's was greatly beneficial to me. I also had to find evidence which was being held in the storage cupboard which was an interesting task.
I have enjoyed the programme to a great extent.
I feel greatly valued by the team in Corporate Crime. They have all been very friendly and welcoming.
It has been well structured as I have had an email account where I have received instructions of the tasks that I need to do.
SEO London, the charity that arranged the work experience, provided much information as to how to conduct myself during the work experience week.
Pinsent Masons LLP have provided a great level of support.
I'm doing this work experience for free. But the experience of being in a City firm, having never done work experience in one before, has been invaluable. I was offered the chance to have my travel expenses reimbursed, but I declined as I could get cheap travel due to my father's job.
Getting involved with the podcast was a really fun opportunity on top of the work I was set.
Yes
I cannot speak for every department within the firm, but the one I was in was so helpful in giving me an insight into what City Law firm is like.
The Solicitor's are all really nice people, so showing them that you are a nice friendly person as well helps. Being a 'clone' won't help you here.
