I am currently in a 17 week placement in Hawk Quality. I am required to work in both office and shop floor enviroments. I am responsible for the buildline of Hawk and any issues highlighted to me i will investigate and solve in order to fix and prevent further issues. every day is different.
I have improved Invesitigation skills, presentation skills, communication skills, time and work load management and personally i have become more confident.
I enjory the variety of work, the people i work with and the challenges i face.
I feel valid as it is made clear to me that i am the future of BAE systems and they have invested alot of time and money in my training. Good work i do is higligted and often get recognition.
every step of the apprenticeship is laid out from day 1. there is plenty of support from instructors/assessors. the placements offer a strong structure as most have had apprentices prior.
Support is availible if you need it. It is clear on who to go to if you need support.
Training is provided by my employer. Support is availible if you need it. It is clear on who to go to if you need support. HR and Unions will support you if required.
Salary is enough to cover living costs, travel and daily costs. It also allows expensive hobbies to be undertake. in my case, Flying.
There are regualr oppurtinity to attend events and activites outside of work. for example there was a recent talk at the royal Aeronautical institue in London. I myself have taken part in the Princes Trust Programe as a part time repersentative.

BAE Systems is an amazing job oppertunity with a huge number of possibilites. you can work on a wide varitey of platforms and are activeley encouraged to do you best. It is a job for life if you want it and pays extermely well. you will be in a better position after the course than an equal UNI STUDENT.
