I am working within the shipyard every day except for my one day a week at college and my day to day consists of shadowing tradesmen and assisting them complete different and varied tasks that need to be completed in order to stay on target. I am trusted a lot which is good and I am not under pressure in any way i.e. if I feel a task is too hard for my current skill level or if I feel a task is unsafe I can speak freely to other employee's higher up than myself. This gives me great confidence every day and makes for a great working environment every day. I am learning every day on different tasks and everyone around me is very helpful and help me pick up the necessary skills I need to become fully trained.
I have learnt many skills and further developed existing skills I had which has helped boost my confidence massively and gives me a great sense of pride in any job I complete day to day.
There hasn't been a single day so far that I have not enjoyed
I feel that BAE value their apprentices very greatly and I can see first hand what effect this has on apprentices like myself every day. I feel integrated as part of the workforce and I am treated no different for being an apprentice which is great.
I feel the programme is very well laid out and there is always targets to work towards frequently to keep me on track and have something to focus on in the short time whilst still looking to the future.
I receive all the support I need any time I need some form of help or support its there.
