I am a mechanical fitter apprentice. this covers lots of jobs from clipping to honing.
I learn new skills on a daily basis or I am covering a skill that I have already leaned so that I can gain confidence and become more efficient at them.
I enjoy the program a lot as it is well laid out and we are informed on what is expected of us and what is happening in the near future.
I do feel valued at BAE as we have regular reviews. although this is a very large company I do not feel like the just another number.
very well organised as we also do a day release to the college and our apprenticeship is very important not only to us but our employer also goes above and beyond to help in our learning.
We have regular review in the college to ensure that we are on target and if we are struggling then the help is there to let us catch up and learn the things that we are struggling with.
The support is there when requested. as we have regular meeting with out apprentice coordinator it is easy to inform them of any concerns and help to get them fixed.
As I am a mature apprentice then the wage is a bit of a pay drop from my previous earnings but it is still a manageable amount to work on and with regular set increases it is easy to plan ahead with my finances.
There are some local voluntary events but not much else other than that. there are no official outside of work socialising events over the festive periods.
Yes
Its is a good company to work for and learn the trade in which you wish to learn.
Ensure that when going into the interview that you know a lot about the company that you are applying to.
