2 weeks on 2 weeks off between hands on site work and college work (divided 50/50 between practical and theory) Site work is hands on work in the role that you go into after your apprenticeship. College is learning all relevant skills required for the job, and extra experience and qualifications of other, enhancing subjects
Hundreds. Going from office based theoretical learning skills, to physical hands on knowledge. I have a whole new knowledge base to the one I had in school which anyone in sixth form or college couldn't possibly gain by 17 years old
Some bumpy patches here and there, but I enjoy nearly everything I do with Severn Trent. From meeting new people on site and in the hotel (paid for by STW), to working on site, to learning in college.
Very. The company seem to invest heavily in us, with money and effort.
The company's organisation is on the ball, 100% of the time. The college are relatively unorganised. The training company (merit skills) are very organised
I very rarely deal with the college team, though the subcontractor (Meritskills - particularly Bob and Steve) are fantastic, even when they aren't in college they reply to emails.
Constant feedback, regular meetings. STW give as much support as you want.
Salary is one of the top paying in the company at this level. It goes up in accordance with costs (in the second year some people need to move house for the job, the pay rise helps with this.)
Yeah, the company are constantly asking if you want to take advantage of other opportunities such as the brathay apprentice challenge or water aid charity projects.
Yes
Top company who are genuinely invested in replacing their aging workforce with loyal, looked-after employees.
Do your research on what job role you want to be in. All job roles offer a chance to move around the company or differentiate yourself in some way or another, but it helps to start somewhere you enjoy that you can develop from!
