PMO role with a focus on finance and general admin. This involves looking at both procurement and invoicing across a number of clients. I work closely with suppliers and customers.
I have leant many new skills from client facing interaction skills to the correct use of financial reporting toolkits. This knowledge has been gained through on the job training and training courses
I enjoy the project work that I carry out and the team that I work within. It can be a challenge to fit in work and study with the deadlines we have, but I can be managed with careful planning
there is recognition available within CGI when you go above and beyond expectations and do something exceptional, however there is little to recognise effort put in on a day to day basis.
The programme itself is well structured with an understood framework for uni days and work time. This allows us to plan our time better and structure the time we have.
There is a lot of support available from the training provider (University of Winchester) in the uni work that we are given. This really supports our leaning and allows us to complete the assignments to the best of our ability.
There is a good amount of support from my employer in general, however there are a few people who I work with that do not understand the university and training commitments that I have which can impact upon the support they provide and also cause issues with work load
Travel costs are expensive when having to travel for work and uni, this is not 100% recoverable and therefore there are times in which you can be out of pocket. Having said this the salary is ok, although not as competitive as some others within the market
There is a social club and other activities arranged by the employer that we can attend for a small cost. These are not always targeted at the younger employees, so are not often attended by members of the degree programme
Yes
Working at CGI has provided me with a wealth of experience that I will be able to call upon in the future. In addition the degree combination has allowed me to study and gain a level 6 qualification without having the expense of university.
When applying ensure that you give as much detail as possible and also be honest in your application. Where possible back up the skills you have with examples of where you have used them. When interviewed ensure you dress professionally and arrive on time
