I work as a Service Transition Manager, this entails working with various transformation workstreams to understand when their work is ready to hand over to service, and facilitate them during the transition process.
I have learnt lots during this project and developed my understanding of the business, how projects are run and improved my insight to projects undergoing transformation.
The work side of things is flawless, I am getting everything I want from working in a corporate environment
CGI are an international multi-billion pound company, with thousands of employees, so its hard to justify that the company itself values me as an invidual, but the people I have worked with through the hierachy have all been incredibly accommodating, insightful and helpful. Each has played a part in improving my professional etiquette and helping me to achieve my professional goals.
The programme itself is well managed by Rebecca and her team. They have always been quick to answer any questions/worries, not that I have had many, and we are always aware of our timetables and what we need to be doing.
Support is readily available at the university and over email.
All the support needed and more is readily available at work.
The salary has always been a difficult one for me as I came from a full time job back to education. The increase improved things this year, and as I am constantly based in London the most viable option was to move here. This is not feesable on our salary therefore I have to have family help me pay for it.
Clubs exist for out of work activities - I do not partake
Yes
My life since I started has improved tenfold, both in an educational sense, a self awareness sense and in a professional sense. It would be selfish of me to hide this opportunity from anyone.
Be yourself! CGI are a company that are looking for versitile individuals that are defined by attributes you can't pretend to have. They are looking at how you fit into their culture, not who got straight As. This is because of the nature of project work, you find yourself in a whole variety of situations which CGI need to know how you'll respond. If you don't get in, its because you weren't the right fit, which is nothing personal.
