My job title in CGI is PMO Finance Officer. On a day to day basis I do both a combination of PMO tasks and Financial administrative work. On a daily basis, within CGI, I talk with the other members of the PMO, my boss and occasionally some financial managers. I feel like I have plenty of responsibility here at CGI.
I believe that I have learnt new skills and managed to developed skills, which I already had. I have gained a qualification in Risk Management, I regularly complete online training courses which are provided by CGI, for their employees. I have managed to develop my organisation, time management, planning and facilitation skills here at CGI. I have also learnt how to deal with different people in the company.
I really enjoy my programme, which I am on with CGI. The people in my team at work are really friendly and they are always able to offer their support if I need any information. The people here at CGI are generally friendly and are mostly keen to hear about the sponsored degree programme.
I do feel appreciated by my manager. This is because I have checkpoint meetings with her every week. During these meetings she will let me know how I am progressing, if there are any areas which I can improve, etc. At CGI with have an internal recognition tool which a member can use to recommend another, for a reward, if they have been doing a good job
The sponsored degree programme had a week long induction, where my year group were informed about what the programme would entail and about CGI. I have support with my University work from both my manager and my assigned work based mentor. I believe that CGI organised the sponsored degree programme well.
I believe that I have received plenty of support from my training provider. My lecturers/ mentors are easy to get a hold of by phone or email. I am the rep for my year workwise and for the technical stream in my year group, I find it easy to raise any problems which either myself or my peers have.
If I usually have any problems with the sponsored degree program, work wise, I can normally talk to the student recruitment team about it. If it is a problem with work I can usually talk to my manager, HR, my mentor or my career manager about it. Everyone is very happy to take the time to help me, if the time is available.
My salary met my costs very well in first year, as my main expense was rent; however, my salary has now increased but I now have a car as well as paying rent. This means that typically I have less spare cash available to spend; however, the higher salary finally gave me the ability to buy my first car, which I have wanted for a long time.
Socially, as a sponsored degree student, there are plenty opportunities for me. I play golf at my local golf club, I can go out in the evenings with my friends from CGI and from the Reading area in general to socialise, I could join the sports and social club here at CGI to take part in different events; such as, dinners, etc.
Yes
I would recommend CGI to a friend because I believe that it was the right decision to join, over going to University normally (however, this might not be the right decision for everyone). I feel like CGI is a good company to start your career in.
If I was to give advice to someone who was applying to CGI I would tell them that they need to just relax on the assessment centre days. In addition to this, I would tell them to write their answers to the questions for the application form in a word document, so that they can save and spell check them, instead of typing them directly into the web page.
