A typical day at Savers would involve operating the till making sure I provide customers with excellent customer service skills while also offering additional products. Between 9:00 - 13:00 I would work between operating the tills, filling shelves from the drawers or warehouse and handing out baskets to customers on the shop floor. From 13:00 onwards we face the whole store as a team starting from aisle 3 working round to aisle 1, whoever is working on the till will face the a-zone area of the store as they would then not have to leave the till area. After the whole store is faced we would make sure that the whole shop is tidy, one team member will sweep the store while another mops after closing time. While the store is being mopped, a supervisor and team member will cash up which involves seperating notes from the counter cashes into separate piles while keeping them in order of which till they have come from, counting the coins in the safe, and making a banking bag while ensuring the safe check is spot on with no mistakes, overage or shortage, we then lock all doors and close the store ready for the team working the next day.
I have improved on my SAS selling skills and how to increase sales quickly and effectively, I have also improved on my customer service skills and now find myself more customer focused they I was before my apprenticeship. I feel I have become more of a team player as my apprenticeship has gone on and I get on better with all other team members, also my portfolio for the apprenticeship has a lot of information in it that has helped in a lot of situations on shop floor and behind the till.
This is the first job I've had where I have been able to wake up each morning and want to work and be excited to get to work, so I am enjoying a lot and hope to improve on more of my skills in the future here.
I feel like we are all treated equally by team members and management including the area manager and any Assessors that anybody may have.
I am getting a lot of support from management and my Assessor to complete my apprenticeship.
I receive support with my book and working on shop floor including behind the tills.
I receive support from management to complete my book each week and work on shop floor including tills.
I don't have many expenses so that is not applicable to me.
