I am a logistics apprentice within an aldi warehouse, on a day to day basis I go through a routine of shadowing deputies doing admin work, performing accuracy checks on stock coming into the warehouse as well as actually booking in the stock
I have learn a variety of new skills such as how to create high quality multi functional spread sheets, the correct way to handle heavy boxes as well as developing existing skills, for example my communication with other staff members and I have grown a lot as an individual in terms of confidence
I enjoy the programme as I am spending every day with a great group of people in the office and on the pick, everyone is friendly and easy to talk to so there is always a good atmosphere. it has exceeded my expectations that I had for working life and Aldi in general.
currently I feel as though I am very valued by the people I work closely with day to day as they trust me with important jobs and allow me to develop skills and work in my NVQ
the programme is extremely well structured now, we have a training schedule for how long we will be spending within each department and what we should be doing there. However before there was little structure and previous apprentices were left to their own devices
I receive support from my training provider when I request it, If I am stuck she helps me to the best she can and is always available for me to contact her.
my employer is also supportive, if I am struggling with a section of my NVQ all I have to do is asked an I will either be told what I need to know or send to the right person to find out.
my wage covers all my expenses with a little left over for me, however I do feel as though sometimes apprentices are used as a means of cheap work.
outside of work I have a large selection of sports and leisure activities such as boxing, football, gym, swimming ect, however there are limited places for work experience or other part time jobs
Yes
it is a greast place to work, you learn a lot, you develop yourself as a person and as an employee. The money is very good, the hours are also preferable as everyday ends by around 2pm at the latest(day shifts).
be honest, be prepared for hard work and early starts. the days will fly by if you are willing to switch on and learn each and every day otherwise you will struggle to make it through the course.
