Day to day tasks involves me managing accounts and making sure that clients have insurance. I do so by emailing and phoning underwriters and local offices to gain information about the types of cover that the client needs. Once this information is gathered I produce a slip for underwriters so they can give me an accurate quote. Then I present these terms to local offices or direct clients for their approval. I have interactions worldwide from New Zealand to South America.
I am currently working towards my CII. I have picked up a lot of job related skills like how to properly structure emails to clients and how to interact with people more clearly.
I feel that I got very lucky with the team that I'm in. Everyone is willing to help me whenever I need help. Everyone in my team are great people and have made us feel very welcome and part of the team. I am enjoying the programme more than I expected to do as we have been given proper live work to work on.
I feel very valued by Aon. I have a great manager that cares about the whole team and makes sure that they are coping with their work alright, anything that I do well my team congratulate me on. I feel very involved as we work as a team on a day to day basis.
I feel that the programme is structured well. We have monthly lessons for our CII which helps us to prepare for our exams. We are left to study in our own time and at work if we please.
We have good support from our training provider. We have monthly lessons. We have access to learning resources whether this be physical or virtual.
I get a lot of support from my employer and team. Without the people in my team I wouldn't know half the things I know now. I have a great mentor who is willing to help me no matter what he has on. Couldn't ask for more from my team with the support they give me.
My salary is very good for a starting salary. I pays for my travel and daily costs and I still have enough money to treat myself and to save a bit.
Many opportunities come up outside of work. I have gone to networking events, underwriter meetings and company events.

I feel that the way they operate is perfect for anyone to fit into. In my role, I am constantly learning new things and look forward to coming into work. As a result of this no day is the same as there are different day to day problems to solve.
In the interview process you should just be yourself. If they see something in you they will hire you. In assessment days try to answer questions and papers logically and how you would answer them if you were carrying out the job role. I would have liked to have been told more about the work that I would be carrying out before I started but I now understand that this is hard to do as every department carries out different work from one another.
