I work as part of a team of Train Maintenance Technicians/Fitters and maintain a fleet of trains for London Midland.
Yes, learn how the trains actually work instead of going "oh, a train, it moves, it stops". A number of Internally run training course help to improve this knowledge. I also studied for 2 years, studying Level 2 Mechanical Engineering and Level 3 Electrical Engineering at a Local College.
I can always have a laugh with the team I work with and the work I carry out is different almost every day.
I feel very valued by SIEMENS as I have been called upon to give Depot Tours and show around new apprentices.
The program is well structured and organised.
I received plenty support from my college tutors when I studied at college.
I receive support from the training team, other technicians and other apprentices as well as my managers.
The salary is very competitive for a job withing the Rail industry.
Yes, voluntary events allow us to talk to other other apprentices as well as people who are interested in becoming an apprentice.
