  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My department focuses on business implementation, and testing for change projects and programs. This is intended to enhance risk and control environments, whilst retiring legacy systems. When issues are noticed in a system, the tech team has to work to fix this. My role is to check that the changes meet any pre-set requirements, and that no more errors will occur. Test Utility uses multiple systems and processes to complete a project, for a specified deadline date.

  • By the end of my apprenticeship I will have a Level 4 diploma in Financial Services. Through-out the apprenticeship we aim to develop our skills such as communication and team-working, and knowledge such as industry understanding. J. P. Morgan also offers many internal courses to take, in a variety of subjects. I have learnt more about the financial services industry, and the regulations that control it.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction process made everyone feel welcome, and more comfortable with the thought of joining such a large firm. Training is thorough, and includes both lectures and course books. Our lecturers are also available to e-mail if we need any further support. However, slightly unorganized regarding coursework and our end point assessment, and most apprentices were unsure as to what was happening.

  • I have found that my manager is incredibly supportive of my apprenticeship, and encourages me to get involved as much as possible. My manager has also been understanding about taking time out of work to complete my exams. I have had few issues during my apprenticeship but I know that I have support from both manager and mentor if I need it.
