Currently I work on a large rail project (London Underground, CROSSRAIL). Day-to-day I help to produce training documents that will go to the commissioners to guide them with the installation of the SCADA systems.
I have certainly developed further, my communications and professional skills. In terms of engineering, i have a learnt a lot about SCADA systems and document control.
I enjoy my apprenticeship greatly; it is very enjoyable and educational. The freedom that comes with doing an apprenticeship is refreshing, being in a professional environment develops me as a person.
I feel that I very much a part of the global company. The priority Siemens has for it's employees is very prominent in the Zero-Harm scheme and the opportunities we are pushed to take.
My apprenticeship is very well organised; i have been provided with a lot of structured documents and guidance to ensure that i can complete the program to its full extent.
The support i receive is mainly in the organisation of the course. Having it laid out, with the criteria defined really helps. Equally, I have even more support available if i feel the need to ask for it.
Not too much, but that is because i haven't needed it thus far. But with issues at my college and other external things, my employer is happy to go out to meet the relevant people and try to resolve them.
My salary, i believe, is quite generous and allows me to live comfortably and meets my overheads but still allowing for some savings to be made. I am able to save around 15% of my salary.
There are a lot of opportunities that are consistently advertised and recommended by my employer. With volunteering opportunities at all types of venues.
Yes
Because they are a very powerful and globally heard name, the opportunity to work for a company with such a stature should never be missed. Not only that, the courses they put you on and life experience received is invaluable.
Be confident, have confidence in what you are saying/doing will really help make an impression with the people around you. If people remember your name, they will recommend it to others.
