I am a Rolling Stock Maintenance apprentice. The job is to shadow qualified technicians on the shop floor and carry out preventive maintenance on trains. We have to deal with both mechanical and electrical side of trains.
I have learnt to be more confident. I am currently studying HNC in Engineering, hence I have learnt many new concepts.
I like working on the shop floor and going to college. I get to learn new things both places. with this, we also have placements in different departments, which give the diverse working experience.
Yes, I do feel valued by Siemens. They consider their apprentices as an asset and not as a liability.
The programme is quite well organised. We have regular meetings with our Line Manager and receive constructive feedback.
Full support is given by the training provider. Conversations with college, line manager, fellow workers are an integral part of the course. Hence, whenever help is needed, a friendly hand is always extended.

As I live with my parents, the wage is sufficient. I am not sure how it would affect when living independently. There are pay increases every year, so at the end of the day, the salary meets the costs.
Yes, there are many opportunities outside of work. We have to volunteer at atleast 3 events in a year. There are multiple CSR activities conducted by the company apart from these.
Yes
Siemens is one of the biggest engineering giants in the world. they provide world-class training and support. Doing an apprenticeship with Siemens will not only provide with work experience but the exposure to such big MNCs. It develops an individual.
Apply well before the deadline. The process of applying starts sometime in Nov/December. There are around 6 steps in the application process, but don't panic, it is easy. Be confident and open to learning.
