The role I have been on is a floor walking role, which involves attending client sites where the project is rolling out a new solution, and ensuring that it goes smoothly.
The training courses provided by QA have been very intuitive and a I have learnt a lot of theory. I have not been given any opportunities to put this technical theory into practice.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the QA training provided on this apprenticeship course, however I have not had any chance to apply any of this technical theory in a practical setting, and feel that I have not progressed in the year and a half I have been with the company.
I feel that the team I am part of values me, and will recognise good work when it is done. As for the company in general, I just feel like another number to be added to hiring statistics.
The training from QA is very good, with good structure in general. There are things that I would change, such as the amount of unnecessary paperwork that could be saved as a digital copy rather than wasting the paper.
QA is very good at giving support where it is needed. The training coursers are very engaging and intuitive, and there are always assessors available to answer questions when required.
I feel that the support provided by the company is no where near comparable to what is provided by QA. The work I do has no relation to the training I am doing, therefore is very difficult to apply the training provided to the work I am doing.
I feel that I am paid far more than I should be for the work I am doing. The cost of travelling is covered which is a bonus, however relocation costed a lot and I wouldn't recommend it if you are unsure.
There are social events within the company, however I think it depends on what location you work in because I am definitely not the target demographic for the events that are hosted in my area. Generally its better to arrange events with your colleagues.
No
I'd recommend that unless my friend is business oriented, to find a company that actually has technical work available and will value his work within the company.
If you are looking to work in a technical field, make sure that this is 100% for you. I went in because it seemed to be the best opportunity I'd get, however, the picture was painted differently when I was applying to what it was when I started work.
