I am an electrical apprentice that is tasked with all sorts of jobs ranging from basic installations to complex engine wiring and testing. I need to have good relations with managers as I am in talks with them everyday, my responsibilities entail making decisions on the tasks I have been given, some projects include wiring up an entire system for an engine bed which is a multi million pound project. I am currently wiring up the control modules for the control room. a normal day includes being briefed in the morning and carrying on with any jobs that need doing, then when needed I take a trip to the engine bed to check everything is working smoothly and help out any way needed.
I have learnt lots of new skills and qualifications including an NVQ and IET Wiring regulations. when and needed we get put on and trained in general work practices and safety courses.
I love my job because I get to work as part of a team everyday, and I am constantly learning new things. The way my company rewards hard workers makes working a lot more enjoyable. I came into the company with huge expectations, and fortunately they have been met. I have the best job in the world.
very valued. I am constantly in meetings to review my progress and to make sure I am hitting targets and learning what I need to learn. All staff no matter what their title are always happy to listen to me and help me in any way I need.
my programme is very well organized. I know each year what targets I need to hit and what training and studying I need to be doing. I have some mentors that are there to help me with my NVQ and any general questions that I have.
It differs form person to person, but the main thing is that all training providers are there when you need them and are always happy to guide you with any troubles that you may have.
If I have a problem that I need resolving, the management staff and HR are always there for me. They would help me 100 times over and still treat me with the same respect as they once did.
It is adequate, it does meet my living costs once you progress through the apprenticeship.
If you go looking for it, it will be there and you will be welcomed. Making friends is easy.
