My overall roll is to learn and observe current practices that take place around the factory, learning how to do different jobs round the site, from new installations, testing and servicing. Day to day work can vary on what job is in hand.
The current skills that I had before starting the appreceship has been developed extensively going from level 2 nvq to leading level 3 and also furthering my theoretical side going from extended diploma to a HND
There is plenty to learn in each placement and it all involves being hands on and using skills learnt to be used on the job.
Im valued as another worker than an apprentice and can work at the same level without being undermined and my opinions are taken in when carrying out jobs,
The program is well structured now that the documentation has changed which has make it easy to follow
There is clear and good guidance on the NVQ on where to head and how to develop it. As far as training they will give the relevant course out that we need to carry out activities, with other courses that we can do they are a bit limiting
There is plenty of support and advice on all subjects if required.
The salary is above the national minimum so can't argue with it, it meets expectations of being an apprectice
There can be some opportunities depending on the work we carry out
Yes
They provide a good basis to get into engineering and provide plenty Of training for it
Just be confident and go through the enrolment process
