Electrical engineer at Siemens industrial turbomachinary in Lincoln. My daily routine is to maintain and fit gas turbine instrumentation as well as fit and wire in gas turbines to turbine to the turbine beds.
I have learnt loads of new skills and terminology about electrical engineering and about gas turbine technology. Siemens have put me on some extra training courses as well to further aid my training.
I thoroughly enjoy the work i do as i find it very interesting and the company do some excellent ground breaking achievements that i find very interesting and wish to be apart of one day.
I feel i have value from my colleagues and some of my managers. The biggest gratitude i get is when i complete one of projects that are very useful to the company. I don't feel valued from the human resources department.
The support from my colleagues has been very good and they are always willing to help me learn. The support from my training supervisors has been very poor and they have been very obtuse.
The support from my assessors has been good as they are supportive about my work and are willing to help me progress through my apprenticeship and qualifications.
Guidance and understand-ability have been very poor. I also feel they treat all apprentices at the same level which i feel is unfair if you're excelling in the program.
The first year salary of my apprenticeship was a bit low but fortunately I have the opportunity to live at my family home. If i didn't then it wouldn't be enough. The pay rise has been very reasonable.
Siemens has very good local community support. They provide a lot of local discounts for travel and leisure activities. They also have many events that people can volunteer for.
Yes
I would recommend Siemens to a friend because they are a very interesting company to work for, that also have many opportunities to progress in a career.
During an application process it is important to be organised and be interested in the job. You also have to be patient as the application process is very slow.
