I have now finished the apprenticeship and have gone on to become a Business Development Manager within Siemens. During the apprenticeship role I would spend around 4~ weeks in different departments getting to know about the whole of Siemens Industry.
NVQ Level 3, BTEC Diploma Electrical & Electronic Engineering, HNC Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Water Safety, CCNSG, LOTS of product training, external sales courses, Introduction to flow & level sales and technical.
The company is great to work for and is very open and make you feel welcome/comfortable. The work was sometimes tedious but that's part of being an apprentice. Doing the apprenticeship has helped me get to this stage of my career at such an early age, I am the only apprentice to go onto an external sales role.
Very valued. Siemens put me through lots of courses, found out what I was good at and lead me towards the path I have now taken. I was one of the first apprentices at Siemens starting in 2010, and since then I have only seen it get better and the standard in apprentices is very high. Only problem I see now is that I wouldn't even get an interview if it was at the same standard as when I started!
During my time on the programme it was a bit up in the air sometimes as there was no manager as such, during my last years there was a manager who did a very good job.
I had lots of support from Siemens themselves. Not too much from the tutors at college (didn't really help myself though).
As above, lots of support from the employer. Everyone was/is very approachable.
The wage has changed now, when I was on my apprenticeship it was really low until the last year.
Lots of activities such volunteering at company events, sport activities, social gatherings, etc
Yes
a) Because its a good company to work for. b) Because I got £1000 when my friend also got onto the apprenticeship.
Be confident and don't be afraid to speak up.
